A Beginner's Guide to the End

BJ Miller and Shoshana Berger’s recent book A Beginner’s Guide to the End offers just what the subtitle advertises: a “Practical Advice for Living Life and Facing Death”. I read the book cover to cover but for most it will serve as a useful reference where one can dive into a chapter when needed. The “Planning Ahead” section and “It’s Your Body and Your Funeral” chapter echo GoodEnding’s website while providing additional valuable detail. The remainder of the book is directly addressed to the needs of the dying and those caring for the dying. BJ and Shoshana interject personal experiences, warmth and humor throughout the book. The “Resources” appendix is comprehensive and well thought out. Even if you are not planning on dying soon nor know someone who is, this is a great book for the bookshelf
